Flower garden

West Sussex

Garden

The garden was built from scratch 8 years ago and was designed with a view to integrate with an extension planned at a later date.

The garden is south west facing and the design is built around a circular lawn with planting from shade to full sun. The planting is changed regularly as Wendy experiments with different plant combinations and tests new cultivars, but the colours of green, blue/purple and white remain consistent.

Patio

The large limestone terrace was added after the pre-existing garage was demolished.

Pleached hornbeams add privacy and a slatted garden screen hides the small raised bed vegetable plot.

Lighting adds another dimension to the garden as the terrace is viewed all year round.

Wendy’s love of Sissinghurst Garden in Kent was the design inspiration for the white garden. The planting starts with snowdrops and scented narcissi and are followed by a mass of Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’ which are a showstopper.
